Stretching? It’s so much more than the final 5 minutes of class. In fact, it’s so critical (and we have so many clients crying out for it) that we’ve developed a full course dedicated to it. Welcome to Stretch by Barre Body. Whether you’re already a teacher or just want to enjoy all the benefits of stretching, this course is for you.

Learn how to design a full stretch class and why stretching is so important. You will also learn how and why we include a warm-up and cool-down in barre or Pilates classes. We take you through stretching repertoire so you can take this with you into your exercise class, or full stretch class. Each stretch is demonstrated in a video or photo and accompanied with instructions and how best to sequence and teach them.

In this course we look at:

  • All about stretching - stretching in classes
  • What is the difference between dynamic and static stretches
  • Stretch repertoire
  • Full stretch classes, different themes, and lengths
  • Teaching drills to get you started

All exercises are broken down on how to teach them and any modifications needed. You can introduce these stretches into your classes to warm up the body, aid in recovery, add variety, balance and coordination, relaxation and flexibility. Within the course you also get to participate in 5 full length stretch classes that give you examples on how you can be creative and utilize each stretch to create a theme for your class.

Sophie obtained her BA in performing arts (Musical Theatre) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing arts (WAAPA) and has always had a passion for dance and Pilates. She then went on to study Barre, Pilates mat and Reformer Pilates through Barre Body.

In 2020 Sophie stepped into the teachers training team at Barre Body and head teacher in Melbourne and has loved every second of mentoring up and coming Fitness instructors.
