Ballet Technique and Repertoire

How to add classical ballet positions, technique, and repertoire to your classes. And a 5, 6, 7, 8.

Totally new to ballet? Or maybe you still have your pointe shoes in your closet. Whatever your background, this short course will help you channel your inner Jodi Sawyer (we see you Centrestage fans) as it guides you to incorporate balletic movements into your classes.

It includes video demonstrations of each exercise, plus complementary instructions for how to best teach them. So you can create pulsey, pacey, and pretty movements to all your classes. Tutu not required.

Here’s everything you’ll learn:

  • Positions of the feet and arms
  • 15 x barre work repertoire and foundation exercises
  • A 6-week ballet program (so you can immerse yourself in ballet)
  • How to introduce ballet to your class

Sophie Bredenkamp

Sophie obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Musical Theatre) graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2014. Since then Sophie has toured Australia as a performer and has been teaching dance and singing at high Schools and performing arts schools. It was while touring she found the beautiful work out that is “Barre” and loved how it complimented her dance background in a fun workout class environment.

In 2016 Sophie became a qualified barre fitness instructor, training through Barre Body. She moved to Sydney to join the team, eventually becoming Sydney regional manager. Sophie then ventured back to her home state and became Melbourne regional manager in 2019. In 2019 Sophie also completed her Mat pilates and Reformer training through Barre Body.

It is Sophie’s love of Ballet and her dance background that inspired her to create this course for you. We hope that you enjoy these modules and get inspired to add some ballet into your barre classes.
